Changes in the position or function of the eye.
Clinical Details
Because the cheekbone forms the floor of the eye socket, a fracture can cause the eyeball to drop slightly, disrupting binocular vision and causing double vision (diplopia). Bleeding into the eye socket can also push the eye outward. Extensive, deep purple bruising immediately surrounds the eye, often referred to as a severe black eye.
