Clinical Details
The patient typically experiences a sudden, stabbing pain in the calf, often accompanied by the sensation of being violently struck or kicked in the back of the leg, even when no one is there. A distinct, audible pop or tearing sound may be heard at the moment of injury. The pain forces the person to immediately stop their activity.
