Profuse blood loss from a deeply punctured blood vessel.
Clinical Details
Because the sharp object penetrates deeply into the body, it frequently severs large, high-pressure arteries or deep veins. Blood may spurt dramatically from the wound or well up rapidly from the deep tissue tract. If the bleeding is primarily internal into the chest or abdominal cavity, external blood loss may appear deceptively minimal.
