Fluid accumulation specific to the inner portion of the joint.
Clinical Details
Unlike an ACL tear which causes massive, generalized knee swelling, an MCL sprain typically causes swelling specifically on the inner aspect of the knee. The area becomes puffy and slightly warm to the touch due to localized inflammation. Minor bruising may also appear along the inner joint line after a few days.
