The loss of capacity to support body mass on the affected limb.
Clinical Details
Due to the loss of structural integrity in the joint that supports the entire body, the patient physically cannot stand or walk on the injured foot. The ankle will simply give out, accompanied by excruciating pain, if weight is applied. Crutches or a wheelchair are immediately necessary for mobility.
