Clinical Details
Unlike a deep cut that bleeds profusely, an abrasion typically features a slow, widespread oozing of blood from microscopic capillaries sheared open by the friction. The bleeding usually stops quickly on its own as a large, flat scab begins to form over the entire scraped area. Heavy bleeding indicates a deeper laceration hidden within the scrape.
