Definition

A tight, rigid feeling limiting the range of motion.

Clinical Details

The crushed muscle fibers and the presence of the hematoma severely limit the muscle's ability to stretch and contract. The affected limb feels incredibly stiff, heavy, and tight. Attempting to fully bend or straighten the joint connected to the bruised muscle causes sharp, restrictive pain.
