Intense ache or sharp pain located in the cervical spine.
Clinical Details
The patient experiences excruciating pain precisely at the back of the neck where the vertebrae are broken. The surrounding neck muscles will violently spasm, locking the neck in a rigid position in a biological attempt to splint the broken bones. Any forced movement of the head can cause lethal secondary injury.
