Definition
A sensation of severe heat and stinging pain.
Clinical Details
The patient feels an immediate, excruciating burning or stinging sensation upon contact with the chemical. This intense pain will persist and potentially worsen until the chemical is thoroughly neutralized or washed away with copious amounts of water. Some extremely potent chemicals, however, may destroy nerve endings so quickly that little pain is felt.
