Definition
A visual sinking or loss of prominence of a knuckle.
Clinical Details
When the metacarpal bone breaks and angles downward, the knuckle associated with that bone may seem to disappear. Upon making a fist, the normal contour of the knuckles is lost, and a distinct depression is visible. This is a classic visual indicator of a displaced hand fracture.
