A physical discrepancy in the length of the legs.
Clinical Details
The powerful muscles of the thigh often spasm and contract powerfully after the bone breaks, pulling the lower portion of the fractured femur upwards. This causes the injured leg to physically appear shorter than the uninjured leg as the patient lies on the ground. It is a classic visual sign of a displaced hip fracture.
