The escape of the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord.
Clinical Details
If a fracture occurs at the base of the skull, it can tear the dura mater enclosing the brain, allowing clear cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to leak out. This fluid may drip continuously from the nose or drain from the ears. It is a highly dangerous sign that exposes the brain to a massive risk of bacterial infection (meningitis).
