Definition

Medically called dysarthria, a motor speech disorder characterized by slurred, slow, or difficult-to-understand speech caused by weakness, paralysis, or lack of control over the muscles used for speaking (mouth, tongue, larynx, vocal cords). It is often a sign of neurological damage from strokes, brain injuries, or diseases.
