Clinical Details
As the tissue temperature drops, nerve function becomes depressed and eventually ceases entirely. The affected individual loses the ability to feel pain, touch, or temperature in the frostbitten area, creating a false sense of relief that the cold has subsided. This lack of sensation makes the tissue highly susceptible to further undetected physical trauma.
