Clinical Details
Redness, or erythema, is the hallmark of superficial burns and is caused by the dilation of blood vessels bringing an inflammatory response to the damaged site. The red skin is usually dry, highly sensitive to touch, and blanches white when pressed. It is the primary symptom of a mild sunburn.
