Clinical Details
Blisters form in second-degree, partial-thickness burns as the epidermis separates from the underlying dermis, filling the space with plasma. This fluid acts as a natural, sterile barrier protecting the deeper, delicate tissues while they heal. Popping these blisters prematurely significantly increases the risk of infection.
