Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
Type: Symptom
Definition
A condition in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick.
Clinical Details
In the infantile form, glycogen buildup causes the heart walls to thicken and stiffen, reducing pumping efficiency. This leads to progressive heart failure and is the primary cause of mortality in untreated infants.
