Instability
Type: Symptom
Definition
A tendency to yield or fail under pressure.
Clinical Details
Because the ligaments responsible for holding the ankle joint tightly together are compromised, the joint feels loose and prone to giving way. Weight-bearing becomes difficult or impossible depending on the severity of the tear. Recurrent instability can lead to chronic ankle issues if not properly rehabilitated.
