Small clumps of cells that form on the lining of the colon or rectum.
Clinical Details
The loss of the APC gene's regulatory function allows the mucosal lining of the large intestine to hyperproliferate. Thousands of these small, mushroom-like growths carpet the colon, inevitably undergoing malignant transformation over time.
