Blue Sclerae
Type: Symptom
Definition
A blue or grayish tint in the whites of the eyes.
Clinical Details
The sclera of the eye is primarily composed of type I collagen. Due to the collagen defect, the sclera is abnormally thin and transparent, allowing the underlying veins of the choroid to show through, creating a blue appearance.
