Openings or splits in the upper lip, the roof of the mouth, or both.
Clinical Details
The disruptions in midline structural development extend to the face, preventing the embryonic tissues of the lip and palate from fusing properly in utero. This creates a highly visible physical fissure that severely complicates feeding.
