Repetitive, involuntary movements of the hands such as rubbing or clasping.
Clinical Details
As purposeful hand use is lost, it is almost universally replaced by compulsive, continuous motor stereotypies. These repetitive motions, which resemble washing, wringing, or clapping hands, persist during waking hours and are a core diagnostic criterion.
