Definition
Small, hard, raised bumps that form directly over individual hair follicles.
Clinical Details
The disrupted epidermal metabolism causes the skin to rapidly overproduce keratin, a tough protective protein. This excess keratin fails to shed naturally and instead forms hard, spiky plugs that become deeply impacted within the pores and hair follicles. These bumps are visually prominent and feel extremely rough to the touch.
