Clinical Details
Manganese acts as a critical cofactor for several key enzymes involved in synthesizing and processing systemic cholesterol. A severe lack of the mineral creates an artificial bottleneck in these metabolic pathways. Clinical blood panels will show unusually low levels of circulating total cholesterol, which can disrupt cellular membrane maintenance.
