Clinical Details
As the peripheral nerves sustain ongoing oxidative damage, their ability to transmit sensory and motor impulses sharply declines. The deep tendon reflexes, such as the knee-jerk reaction, become sluggish or completely un-elicitable upon clinical examination. This indicates progressive deterioration of the lower motor neuron pathways.
