Vitamin B6 is a crucial coenzyme in the first step of heme synthesis within red blood cells. Without sufficient heme to bind oxygen, the red blood cells remain small, pale, and functionally inadequate. This leads to classic anemia symptoms like persistent fatigue, pallor, and poor exercise tolerance.
