Skin and Hair Changes
Type: Symptom
Definition
Noticeable alterations in the texture, color, and integrity of the hair and skin.
Clinical Details
Because proteins are necessary for maintaining hair and skin structure, deficiency leads to depigmented, reddish-orange hair that pulls out easily. The skin often develops a "flaky paint" dermatitis, becoming hyperpigmented, cracking, and peeling away. These signs represent a failure of standard cellular regeneration.
