Clinical Details

The central nervous system is highly dependent on niacin for proper neuronal functioning and energy production. As the deficiency progresses, patients develop apathy, memory loss, depression, and eventually severe delirium or dementia. Without treatment, this neurological deterioration is ultimately fatal.
