A condition in which soft tissue bulges through a weak point in the abdominal muscles.
Clinical Details
During normal male fetal development, testosterone drives the testes to descend from the abdomen into the scrotum. In AIS, the lack of androgen signaling prevents this descent, leaving the testes undescended in the abdomen or trapped in the inguinal canal. The presence of these testes in the canal frequently presents as a palpable bulge or hernia in infants.
