Clinical Details
If the gonadotroph cells are damaged, the pituitary fails to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This instantly shuts down the production of testosterone in men and estrogen in women. The resulting severe hypogonadism causes a near-total loss of sex drive, erectile dysfunction, and vaginal atrophy.
