Definition
Weakness or paralysis of the nerves that emerge directly from the brain.
Clinical Details
As the tumor aggressively enlarges, it may expand laterally into the cavernous sinuses, which flank the pituitary gland. These sinuses house several crucial cranial nerves that control eye movement and facial sensation. Compression of these nerves causes double vision (diplopia), drooping eyelids (ptosis), or facial numbness.
