Clinical Details
Without the downstream production of IGF-1, the long bones simply receive no signal to proliferate and elongate. Growth velocity drops precipitously shortly after birth. Affected individuals exhibit profound, proportionate dwarfism that cannot be treated with standard growth hormone injections, as the receptors remain broken.
