A dangerous drop in blood sugar levels that occurs after a period without food.
Clinical Details
Because the tumor constantly pumps out insulin, it actively forces glucose out of the blood and into the cells even when there is no incoming dietary sugar. When the patient goes several hours without eating, such as overnight, their blood sugar plummets. This is the classic trigger for insulinoma symptoms.
