The abnormally early onset of puberty, typically before age 8 in girls and age 9 in boys.
Clinical Details
In milder, non-salt-wasting or late-onset forms of CAH, the continuous exposure to high levels of adrenal androgens causes the child to develop secondary sexual characteristics prematurely. They may experience early pubic hair growth, rapid growth spurts resulting in early bone fusion, and adult body odor at a very young age.
