Clinical Details
The sudden and extreme elevation in systemic blood pressure causes rapid vasodilation and increased pressure within the blood vessels of the brain. This triggers a sudden, excruciating headache that is typically bilateral. The headache usually resolves once the catecholamine surge subsides and blood pressure normalizes.
