Clinical Details
The pituitary dysfunction causing GHD frequently affects other hormonal axes, including the gonadotropins. Without the coordinated surge of hormones necessary to initiate puberty, adolescents experience a significant delay in the development of secondary sexual characteristics. This can cause significant psychosocial distress.
