The need to urinate more often than is typical for the individual.
Clinical Details
As the mother's blood glucose levels rise, the kidneys are forced to filter the excess sugar. This draws extra water into the urine via osmosis, significantly increasing the volume of urine produced. While frequent urination is normal in pregnancy, the volume and frequency are notably exacerbated in gestational diabetes.
