A condition characterized by an abnormally low level of blood sugar (glucose).
Clinical Details
Patients with MEN1 may develop an insulinoma, a neuroendocrine tumor located in the pancreas that autonomously secretes insulin. The tumor ignores normal blood sugar feedback loops, pumping out insulin even when the patient is fasting. This drives blood glucose down to dangerous levels, causing severe sweating, confusion, and potential seizures or coma.
