Definition
An abnormally high concentration of calcium in the blood.
Clinical Details
The most common and earliest manifestation of MEN1 is primary hyperparathyroidism, where tumors develop on the parathyroid glands. The resulting flood of parathyroid hormone strips calcium from the skeleton and dumps it into the blood. This high calcium load causes kidney stones, bone pain, and systemic lethargy.
