Definition
The passage of massively abnormally large volumes of highly dilute urine.
Clinical Details
Because the renal collecting ducts fail to reabsorb water back into the bloodstream due to the lack of ADH signaling, vast amounts of water are flushed out of the body. Patients can excrete anywhere from 3 to 20 liters of urine per day. The urine is typically pale and completely clear, resembling plain water.
