Definition
A condition characterized by abnormally low levels of platelets in the blood.
Clinical Details
When the spleen is enlarged or the bone marrow is crowded with fatty deposits, platelet production and survival are compromised. This leads to impaired blood clotting and an increased risk of bruising or spontaneous bleeding.
