Definition
The absence of neurologic reflexes such as the knee-jerk reaction.
Clinical Details
Because the lower motor neurons are degenerating, the reflex arcs are disrupted, leading to diminished or completely absent deep tendon reflexes. This is a key diagnostic indicator upon physical examination.
