Clinical Details
A rapid or irregular heartbeat. Occurs when the electrical impulses coordinating heartbeats misfire, causing the heart to beat too fast, too slow, or erratically. A rapid rate (tachycardia) exceeds 100 beats per minute, while an irregular, chaotic, or skipping rhythm (like in atrial fibrillation) interrupts the normal, steady pattern.
