Sarcopenia (CLINICAL)
Description
Sarcopenia is a degenerative syndrome characterized by the gradual loss of skeletal muscle mass, strength, and performance. It stems from cellular changes including reduced protein synthesis, hormonal declines, and the loss of motor neurons innervating muscle fibers. While physical inactivity accelerates the process, it primarily affects the elderly population and significantly increases the risk of falls and frailty.
