Multiple System Atrophy (CLINICAL)
Description
Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) involves the gradual loss and shrinkage of brain cells in the basal ganglia, cerebellum, and brainstem, characterized by the buildup of alpha-synuclein proteins in glial cells. It progressively destroys the autonomic nervous system and motor pathways, making it closely related to both Parkinson's disease and pure autonomic failure. The disease usually emerges in adults in their 50s and 60s.
